ptomsu Posted September 19, 2007 Share #41 Posted September 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am meanwhile pretty confident that there will be a total new lens lineup for the new DSLR. And it will not be too complicated for Leica to develop. They have all the models for successfull glass from the R system and only need to adopt minimal (even making it better with new manufacturing and also maybe cheaper) for a slightly larger sensor size. So why not do that? Mounting old R glass on this new system with an adapter is easy, it then makes a kind of Crop on the new system, which is fine, for those who just want to buy a new body, but stay with their old glass (of course then only MF). Leaving the image stabilisation out of the lens and putting it into the camera (if this is possible with a slightly larger sensor) would be a benefit for both - new and old lenses. So again a win - win situation here. It will be interesting times in the next few months till PK2008.

stunsworth Posted September 19, 2007 Share #42 Posted September 19, 2007 I'm not a lens designer, but I wouldn't have thought that modifying an existing lens so that it can cover a larger image circle would be trivial.
