A simple question?

I have been trying out all the ISO settings on the M8 and found that the noise reduction kicks in at a certain low shutter setting. Now my question is why does this not kick in when I turn up the ISO as well? When I try out ISO 1250 or 2500 this option does not kick in,even though that would be good. The noise reduction works great at low shutter speeds, why not at high ISO where the noise is really bad? Someone explain please?

It's a different type/kind of noise when using a long shutter speed. What the camera does is it take a second shot that is a black frame and looks at the noise (Hot pixels) in the black frame and subtracts the noise (Hot pixels) from the real photograph.

Julius, since you are a Nikon D200 user, you will find it does the same whenever the exposure time is longer than a second. As it was said before, the camera substracts a dark image that generates sensor noise from your picture.
