rivi1969 Posted September 15, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted September 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last week while shooting a tv spot to promote the Isis exhibition in Monterrey, Mexico, I took several pictures with my L1... Here is a little example of the results I got. The first 4 pictures here are with the Leica 14-50mm zoom @ iso 800 wide open (f3 based on the focal lenght) and the last 4 with the 25mm Summilux @ iso 400 wide open with a shutter speeds of 1/30th to 1/50th All in JPG mode. In my opinion both lenses are excellent performers, even when I can use the IS with the zoom, I prefer the speed and sharpness of the 25mm. Â -I see no problems with noise even @ iso 800- Â Regards, Ricardo

bgood2 Posted September 16, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted September 16, 2007 Great looking images Ricardo, I have both lenses and they are great performers, and like you I like the signature of the 25mm best..nice job..Bill ~
rivi1969 Posted September 16, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted September 16, 2007 Thank you guys, I mad a mistake in the description; the very first picture was taken actually @ iso 1600, and yes, wide open the 25mm is very sharp, far better than my Nikon 50mm 1.4 which I also like very much. Â As I mentioned in another post I hope Leica will release in the future a 35mm or 50mm Summilux for portraits, I bought the 35mm f2 R and the 50mm f2 R to use with my L1 for that matter and was a terrible mistake since both lenses are useless @ f2-f2.8 because of the extreme narrow depth-of-field. harjtt Posted September 16, 2007 Share #5  Posted September 16, 2007 There is a 45mm F2 OIS for the Lecia D lens line up although I doubt we will see it until mid-late 2008. There's no mention of anything wider than the 25mm but we could be pleasantly suprised.  Cheers  Harj
wda Posted September 17, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted September 17, 2007 All of your images are extremely good. Perhaps I am biased, but I think the prime has the edge in quality. Â David
rivi1969 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Share #7 Â Posted September 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) A few months ago I was tempted by the M8, but since I do not make a living out of this it would be crazy to make the investment, so my second choice was the L1 (because I prefer black bodies over silver ones) or going back to an R-D1. I went for the L1 and I am very happy with my decision, it is a great combo, a little bulky and heavy but with a solid analogue feel, (I am not thinking in the M8 anymore) I strongly recommend this lens to anyone who can find one. Â I will wait for that 45mm f2, sounds very interesting! thank you all for the comments, Â Ricardo
