grahamc Posted July 4, 2022 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone I’m going to be in London briefly this week and hoping to drop some films off to a decent lab. I’m only passing through this time for half a day and need to collect something from “The Classic Camera” store near British Museum. So I’m hoping to find a lab nearby, or at least convenient to get to from W1 . I’m not averse to travel across London to an extent but will be pushed for time is all I’ll be back there in a couple of weeks for a longer stay so could collect negs then. Any recommendations of London’s finest would be appreciated ! Cheers Graham

pippy Posted July 4, 2022 Share #2 Posted July 4, 2022 (edited) Metro Imaging, 32 Great Sutton Street, is a short bus journey (or a 15 / 20 min walk) away. They are one of the best processing houses in London. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Their website; https://metroimaging.co.uk/ I have no affiliation with the place but have been using them since 1987 (although not often recently it has to be said). Philip. Not wishing to be the Tempting Devil on your shoulder, Graham, but just a tiny bit further to the east along Great Sutton Street from Metro and across the road you will find Red Dot Cameras at 86 Goswell Road... jonnyboy Posted August 27, 2022 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2022 Aperture it's VERY close to the British Museum and they very professional. I'm not entirely sure they will do a 'Same Day' delivery tho. https://www.apertureprinting.com/ (( they also have a lot of nice used cameras....good stuff! ))

I don't doubt Aperture are good, I popped in and they were lovely however it was a few days turnaround on film and those timescales didn't suit my circumstances at the time. When I was in London, for colour I used Bayeux in the end. Great service, premium dev / scanning quality and either same-day or next morning delivery of scans. Visting was like walking into a gallery as they have prints of work they have done for a variety of well-known photographers including some iconic music photographs. Although premium pricing as well. For B&W I used 'The Black & White Basement' in St Johns Wood, who hand develop in XTol (a few days turnaround) . I decided to go with them as XTol is closer to what I use at home (D76) and most other labs seem to be using universal developer these days. Overall was really impressed by these labs and all photographic-related shops I dropped into (inc. Aperture) whilst I was on my holiday Edited August 28, 2022 by grahamc
