Strange behavior when inserting battery SL2 and SL2-S.

After the last two recent  firmware updates I have noticed some strange behavior on my SL2 SL2-S.  If I insert the battery with the camera power turned off the top display stays lights up and stays lit even with the power staying off.  I am pretty confident that it did not do this before the firmware update.  If I then turn the camera on and then back off the top display will turn off. It is doing this on both the SL2 and the SL 2S. Does anyone else have the same behavior? Is this new and is this unusual?

inserting the battery, while the camera is powered off [which it should be], the top lcd comes on for a few secs : seen this since the day i got the camera.
