ksargent Posted September 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I posted this last night, but it seems to have been a victim of the system problem. At any rate - I recently picked up a 1963 M2 which has had the viewfinder replaced with what I think is an M6 viewfinder. I know that this is the official repair for a non-functioning finder in an M2 or an M3. Without getting into the pros and cons of replacement versus repair (I really had no choice in the matter), I am curious as to which finder I have. The finder has 28, 35, 50, 75, 90, and 135 framelines. I have no idea what the magnification factor is as I am somewhat new to rangefinders. I have to say that, while I realize the M2 finder is revered by many, I am glad to have a viewfinder that I shouldn't have to worry about repairing in the near future. Advertisement Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Hi ksargent, Take a look here Which viewfinder do I have?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted September 13, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2007 It ought to be, as you say, an M6 type Rangefinder, and if it displays 28 to 135 the magnification is 0,72 X ; there was a version with 0,85 X magnification, but lacked the 28 frame, and also the 0,58 X, without 135. Nice to have in on a M2 ! I wonder which is the cost... I have a M2 with VF broken... could worth.
