My approach for tripping the shutter is to use the camera's self-timer to allow for settlement/stability at the 'image capture' stage and have found it to work perfectly well but I don't know how you have configured your own scanning/copying set-up.

M246 shutter release thread size is standard.

So only needing length to chose from.

As Philip, for scanning purpose, two seconds in camera self-timer.

Twelve seconds too long.

Even less vibration with self-timer (using with care !) than 50cm long remote shutter release that I used ...if the setup is not rock solid.
