Julius Bjornsson Posted September 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just wanted to officially thank Leica for the two filters, which I just got by FedEx. I registered on the 24th of august and this appears to be considerably faster service than many of you have experienced. The filters were in official Leica boxes, marked Made in Germany, and the filters themselves are marked Germany, but strangely the invoice said that they were made in Japan. Not that this matters in any way if they work as intended, but I found this curious. Do they buy these things in Japan and repackage them? But anyway they are here, I am happy and thanks again Leica for the prompt and excellent service. JKB

JKB The Made in Japan has been noticed other times... seems that the filters in theirselves come out from a Hoya factory, then packaged in Solms... nothing strange after all. From the purchase and registration of my first M8, Jan 25 2007, and when I bought my second I waited until last week to get my final of 4 filters. I had to hound them to get them. Usually after I saw the sizes I ordered being sold by dealers and me not getting any. This really P'ed me off and I let Solms know about it. The last email I sent to M8 support was answered with the "The free filter orders are handled by a outside company and we have no control over them" reply. I don't really care WHO handles it. I, and every other person that bought a M8, should get there promised FREE filters BEFORE any dealer has them for sale. Now I will get a reply that "Well what if someone buys a M8 and wants to buy filters for with it". I could CARE LESS. Let them wait and search the net just like I did to get the right size filters. Leica sucks sometimes and they do not care about there customers that spend thousands and thousands of dollars on there gear. If they did care they would of made sure that original customers got there promised free filter FIRST.

Till now, nothing. I ordered 2 x E55 and changed later to 1x E55 and 1x E49, since the E55s are readily available here. What size(s) did you request for? Vieri Posted September 12, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 12, 2007 I have gotten the filter for my first M8 quite quickly (39 & 46 mm) but those that should have been coming after the second M8 purchase still didn't show up after a couple of months (2 x 43mm). I guess it goes with the size & size related stocking situation. Not that this is a justification by any means, however as it has been pointed out I still think Leica is doing great with the free filters policy. ...back to waiting now...
