Flori Posted May 5, 2022 Share #1  Posted May 5, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone! Has anyone tried the Jupiter- 12, 35 /2.8 on the Leica M8? Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it true that it can damage the rear element or hit the shutter? Thank you!
Advertisement Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Hi Flori, Take a look here Leica M8 with Jupiter- 12 ,35/ 2.8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pippy Posted May 5, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted May 5, 2022 (edited) Hi. The J-12 will not damage the shutter of the camera; the rear element doesn't project back that far. Just be careful the rear section of the lens does not to touch the interior of the lens-throat of the camera nor bang the (very vulnerable) rear element when mounting and unmounting the lens. I still use a 1975 J-12 with my current bodies (M-mount as well as a 1930 Leica 1) and - if my copy is representative - it's a superb performer. Typical Zeiss Biogon rendering with plenty of contrast and very sharp in the centre from pretty much wide-open. As you will be using it with your M8 you won't even have to worry about the slight corner- and edge-softness inherent with such a non-retrofocus design. Philip. 84bravo Posted June 11, 2022 Share #5 Â Posted June 11, 2022 The lens works great with the M8. However, I found that the meter didn't work properly since the rear element covers the meter cell.
JoeWP Posted June 18, 2022 Share #6  Posted June 18, 2022 Hey all, i don’t mean to hijack the thread, but I picked up a Jupiter 8, black 80’s version, and it doesn’t screw all the way on to the LTM to M adapter.  In the viewfinder, the images don’t overlap either. Is this because of the lens, or is it because the finder needs to be adjusted?   This is a Leica M3, and my first Leica (bought it last week) so I’m not familiar with the system at all unfortunately.

Older Leica ones are available on auction sites. If it also doesn't fit then there maybe an issue with the threads on the lens.
