Hi.

The J-12 will not damage the shutter of the camera; the rear element doesn't project back that far. Just be careful the rear section of the lens does not to touch the interior of the lens-throat of the camera nor bang the (very vulnerable) rear element when mounting and unmounting the lens.

I still use a 1975 J-12 with my current bodies (M-mount as well as a 1930 Leica 1) and - if my copy is representative - it's a superb performer. Typical Zeiss Biogon rendering with plenty of contrast and very sharp in the centre from pretty much wide-open. As you will be using it with your M8 you won't even have to worry about the slight corner- and edge-softness inherent with such a non-retrofocus design.

Philip.

Hi everyone!
Has anyone tried the Jupiter- 12, 35 /2.8 on the Leica M8?
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Is it true that it can damage the rear element or hit the shutter?

Hey all,

i don’t mean to hijack the thread, but I picked up a Jupiter 8, black 80’s version, and it doesn’t screw all the way on to the LTM to M adapter.

In the viewfinder, the images don’t overlap either. Is this because of the lens, or is it because the finder needs to be adjusted?

This is a Leica M3, and my first Leica (bought it last week) so I’m not familiar with the system at all unfortunately.

I found Camera Quest has the best new adapters, get a 35mm/135mm. Older Leica ones are available on auction sites. If it also doesn't fit then there maybe an issue with the threads on the lens.
