Processing power of an iPhone is exponentially better (CPU + GPU + Neural Engine + RAM). Quality of the screens are not even close, either.

X100V is displaying a 24mp file, which downsizes more efficiently without banding than does a 60mp file.

That said, I don't think it's a processing power limitation, I think it's about thermal efficiency. I'd rather see banding than have the M11 get really hot to the touch like the X100V sometimes does.

You make a valid point! I stepped into this thread because I'm new to the M11 (barely a week in) and I noticed this on my screen. I would also prefer better thermal efficiency and battery life over on-camera previews. Interestingly, when I transferred the jpeg to my phone using the Leica fotos app over wifi, it showed all that banding; making me question the utility of transferring quick jpegs straight from the camera to the phone! Again, something I didn't face with my X100V. I wonder how this stacks up against other higher-resolution cameras out there like the A7RV, X2D, GFX, etc. for on-camera jpeg previews. Would also be interesting to compare this with SL2 (Maestro III) or Q3 (Maestro IV)?

That is basically the same.  Processing generates heat. For the same reason you don't have video  in small-bodied M cameras.

I think we’re saying the same thing. I was trying to say the limits on processing power are dictated by the M thermal requirements.
