Are Sigma lenses a little soft?

I gave the Sigma 14-24 Art lens a try. It does indeed look great, but I found it to be too distant from the subjects I tend to shoot so I returned it for a Sigma 24-70 Art lens. It was actually less expensive and it's also VERY good. If it's any less sharp than the Leica equivalents I'm not able to perceive it under normal scrutiny. I'd actually set out to buy the Leica 24-70 but read a couple times that it **might** be identical to the Sigma version, or at least the difference would be tough to spot, so I opted to pay 1/3rd the price and got the Sigma.

I'll try to get some photos posted but I think everyone knows by now that my initial question, "are Sigmas soft," has its answer.
