sean_reid Posted September 13, 2007 Share #41 Posted September 13, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the 75AA also, but no E49 filter. For the WATE, I understand that only Leica gives acceptable results. To be specific, the Leica filter matches the firmware best in many lighting conditions. All three filter types can work well if one is using Cornerfix. Cheers, Sean
Advertisement Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Hi sean_reid, Take a look here M8 or R-D1?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

John's stuff rock big time. As we are on third-party stuff here anyway, it should not be too much of a problem purchasing an el-cheapo filter ring, grinding down the glass of a Leica 55mm filter and replacing. I don't know if John can provide this service, but even a Dremel should be able to do a decent job.

However, there is no Leica E49 filter in either black or chrome . Heliopan glass will not work with the adapter. I do not use CornerFix as part of my workflow but will check it out. That is why I suggested creating a filter out of another 49 mm filter using a ground down Leica 55 mm filter glass.
sean_reid Posted September 15, 2007 Share #45 Posted September 15, 2007 Yesterday, at the Tunbridge World's Fair, I photographed with the M8 and my daughter worked with an R-D1. I haven't used the R-D1 for some time now but I'm just looking through the RAW conversions from her work yesterday and the files look great. The Epson, to be sure, is still a desirable camera though I like the M8 better. Cheers,
