Hey

It would have been great if the batter

y would have been the same size and form Of the Sl2 s and q2 . The BP-SCL4 would have made the workflow I between these three cameras a joy. Now you need to carry two types of batteries. And I guess I will invest in usbc powerbanks instead.

Leica made a choice for the m11 battery to include the cover for the sd card housing. If they opted for the sl2 / q2 battery they would have needed to find a location for the sd card and a separate cover/door for it.  I do not see an elegant solution for it without a baseplate or side door which would ruin the clean lines of the M11  .

To me the current solution with a different battery for the m11 than for the sl2/q2 seems more beneficial than the same battery solution across platforms.

fyi : I do have both a SL2 and M11 and it does not bother me to have 2 types of batteries.

Agreed. I think the M11 solution is the best we could have hoped for. That said, while I have no problem with different batteries across lines... I have an SL2 as well... I'm a little weary of buying new batteries for each M iteration. Hopefully the current design will be in force for a generation or two rather than the current tradition of hitting the reset button every time there's a new M.
