SF-24D is my favorite of all time, and the best Leica flash I've ever owned.  Favorite of all my flashes--close tie with my Nikon SB-400 for use on my Nikons.  Bad news is, good luck finding either one of these two gems.

Fujifilm EF-X20: small size, beautiful, retro style

FlashQ Q20II: small size, can use off-camera

Neither will do TTL flash.

So we should withhold information? I think not. Outside Leica circles it is far from well known that Leica cameras will not have full functionality with non-Leica flashes. Except for PanaLeicas which use the Panasonic protocol.

IMHO, just bite the bullet and get the Leica SF 40 flash unit.  It will greatly simplify shooting with flash.

I say this after years of using a Nikon SB-25 flash and a Phottix wireless flash trigger set with my M cameras.

Agree with SF 40.  I use it with an M10-R & Q2 mostly as a fill flash.  I like M mode and adjust it down to just get a little pop when needed.

Tried various combinations of flashes and triggers before buying the SF60 and Trigger from Leica.  Everything else is a compromise and will not give you the optimum features of TTL and OFF-Camera set ups.  It is a costly option but so is the camera.

I love the SF-24D, but doesn't the rather slow and bright pre-flash ruin it for use in TTL?  Seems like a recipe for blinking, so I use it in auto...
