William Cook Posted April 5, 2022 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was rumored that unlike the open edition of the Q2 Reporter, the Q2M Reporter would be limited to 350 pieces. I could find no definitive evidence proving that rumor. After placing an order for mine as soon after announcement as B&H allowed, I received mine two or three weeks ago. I noticed within a few days, they were sold out at B&H so I clicked on the tab to be notified when back in stock. Approximately one week ago I received an email from B&H stating it was still out of stock. Today, another email, this time stating the camera is discontinued. While this isn’t proof positive that the camera was indeed limited, it certainly points to it.
Advertisement Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Hi William Cook, Take a look here Q2 Monochrom Reporter seems to actually be a limited edition, possibly of 350 pieces . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Kreeshp Posted April 5, 2022 Share #2 Posted April 5, 2022 Sorry but the fact that you could not buy more than one does not mean there were only 350 produced. It's a limited edition. That much is certain and this was known from the start. What's less clear is exactly how many were made.
William Cook Posted April 5, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted April 5, 2022 No, I’m sorry. You’ve misunderstood my intent. I never wanted to buy two—one was quite enough. I was only curious about the availability. No, it wasn’t clear that it was a numerically limited edition—those words were only used on a Leica rumors site, not in official announcements. Reading other posts in this forum, others speculated in both directions. I merely wanted to share what I’d found out.
humerc Posted April 6, 2022 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2022 I talked with 3 or 4 Leica dealers about this topic and each one said it is indeed a limited edition (only the Monochrom Version). But no one could answer how many pieces - they talked about 250 or 350, but had no official info. So it seems legit that it’s limited - maybe one day we will hear the truth 😉🤫
99p Posted April 6, 2022 Share #5 Posted April 6, 2022 I spoke to a couple of the dealers in the UK and they both told me it was limited to 350 and they both only received one in stock. For what its worth, one of the dealers has also discontinued it on their website.
NICOFRANCA Posted April 7, 2022 Share #6 Posted April 7, 2022 Noticed that it was discontinued at B&H as well. Talking with some of the Leica stores, I was told it was a very limited run and I'm lucky to have got one. Unfortunately nobody knows what the production run was. Where I bought it from I was told that each Leica dealer was allotted a certain amount. Leica Miami posted 350.This is all speculation and some facts would be nice. If it was truly 350, is there a reason for them not number them? Regardless, I bought it because I love my Q2M, but the reporter just looks really cool imo. So swapping it out. Very unique. Didn't buy it as collectible. I plan on using it and enjoying it! If it retains better value because of production numbers, that's just a bonus for me. NICOFRANCA Posted April 15, 2022 Share #7 Posted April 15, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now it seems the Q2M Reporter is available in multiple stores, so who knows.
