I think the title of this thread isn't quite accurate.   The uncorrected image is wider than 28mm.  Guestimates from when the Q was first released said around 25mm if my memory is correct.   The corrected image (and the lens was designed for those corrections) is closer to 28mm.    See, for example,

I suspect the Q2 is the same as the Q.

Nothing new here. The lens was designed that way. Viewing raw files in some post processing software gives you the option of seeing the full files before correction.

Using SDC (software distortion correction) allows the designers to keep the size of the lens smaller than it otherwise would have been. Have you ever heard of such a wide lens with such a small filter size?

The 28mm, for all intents and purposes, is a 28mm. Not natively, but it is when used the way it was intended.

Informative, thank you.

Hi, I'm new with my Leica Q. I just took a DNG and jpeg and imported them into Affinity. They have both the same AoV. How can I achieve (use) the wider angle in RAW (DNG)?

Thanks for Your help.

Did you try turning off Lens Correction in the Lens tab in the Photo persona before hitting Develop?
