Yeah, it looks good but....No confidence in Visoflex2/M10 marriage

I bought the Visoflex (020) today. I had not planned on ever getting one but I am shooting a lot of stuff at F1.4 with a 50mm, and shooting more 90mm, so a few weeks ago I thought I could help myself out a little with an EVF. I was excited by the possibilities (aesthetically and functionally) of the new Visoflex 2, but it is now becoming clear to me that this tool is really made for the M11 and is just kind of an after thought for us M10-P--ers..No firmware as promised for March, no 3.7MP for us M10ers, heck, it's not even in stock for the foreseeable future.

You don't actually say why the 020 disappoints when used...

I am still awaiting shipment.
I will let you know when I get it.

I have the old one, EVF2 on my MM246. It's very good for use with non coupled wide angle lenses, Voigtlander 25mm & 15m (as they 'zone focus' anyway) far better than extra viewfinders. And a help on low level shooting - saving me poor old back!

I received it yesterday. I like it. For how I choose to shoot Leica (slowly), I don't mind the obvious biggest weakness, the shutter lag blackout.
I LOVE how it meters.

I too am looking for a Visoflex, but for my M10R. I could buy the current version #18767, or the newer, higher resolution one for the M11 #24028

We are all awaiting the newest firmware update for the M10x cameras (Leica promises backwards compatibility after the firmware update)

BUT...

The Leica Technical Rep told me that although the new Visoflex is "backwards compatible" with the older M10x cameras, unfortunately, it will only display the same resolution as the older Visoflex (2.4mp) and not the higher (3.7mp), which is a bummer. I also confirmed this with a reputable Leica dealer.

With that said, the newer one is OLED, so it may have less lag, smear and better colors, but does it make sense for those of us who are not planning to buy an M11 in the near future? Maybe not?

I’ve been using the 020 for years, and it serves its purpose well - framing and focus, and some of the other functions I don’t have on my M10-D 😀

It’s not a high resolution screen for viewing and reviewing images.  It serves its purpose well, in my opinion, and I don’t notice the black-out when I take pictures - try the original T or the M(240) with the Olympus EVF - that was black-out!

I’ve used the 020 for about 18 months or so now & don’t have too many issues with it, I’ve always found it a useful addition to have in the camera bag.

Admittedly mine gets used mainly on landscape/woodland work where nothing moves, but it’s useful for separating detail wide open even on the 35 & 50 Summicrons I use most.
