Skip Heitzig Posted September 10, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I notice that in Capture 1 that when I have my M8 set at "Raw and JPEG" that both will show up in the thumbnail window but in Aperture only one (DNG) appears rather than having the option of either/or. ANyone have any experience with this. How do I set Aperture so that I can have the option that I have in C1? Thanks to all!
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Hi Skip Heitzig, Take a look here C1 an Aperture. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bradreiman Posted September 10, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2007 Hi Skip-There must be a way to do this, I'm sure someone will chime in but in the meantime...you can import the jpegs from the aperture import folder where both the jpg and the dng are stored. I shoot both as well but when I need a jpeg I either export as a jpeg or import the original jpeg from my import folder.....B
erl Posted September 10, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2007 Iknow that in C1 3.7.7, preferences give you the option(under preferences) of displaying jpegs as well as RAW files. I am wondering why you want to view jpegs in RAW converter? P.S. or similar is the place to work with them. It is probably something I don't know about of course, so I may learn something yet. Eoin Posted September 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 10, 2007 There is a rather simple way to do this but may not be so obvious. It is also a very handy method to import an existing folder structure into Aperture placing all the image files into the chosen project but automatically creates albums for every sub-folder to show the contents of that sub-folder rather than have to search in the large project. I'm not sure if it will work directly from the SD card but generally I copy to a folder on my desktop then in Aperture if you highlight the project you wish to import into, then use the menu FILE, IMPORT, FOLDERS INTO A PROJECT, Aperture will import both the DNG and the Jpg into that project and also create a Album just for that import. Just remember to have unique albums, use unique names for your import from folder. If you choose to just import DNG from a card that has both DNG & JPG just use the standard import. I'm not sure if it's a card v's folder thing , but I've noticed that importing from a card that has Jpgs & DNG only brings in DNG where as Folders on say the desktop which have both, brings in both. Hope that helps.
Skip Heitzig Posted September 10, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted September 10, 2007 Thank you all for your help. It's simply a case of wanting visible access to both options (DNG and JPEG). I just noticed that when I import into C1 that both are displayed while not in Aperture. Thanks again for you comments. It greatly helped.
