Gers Posted March 18, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I still do not fully understand the usage of the user profile. OK so I have made up three profiles called ‘Normal’, ‘High Speed’ & ‘Monochrome’. So far so good! ‘Normal’ is my everyday camera set up,’ High Speed’ & ‘Monochrome’ are self explanatory . There is also the ‘Default’ profile which is obvious. Then there is another named ‘Cancel’. Now what is this cancelled? It doesn’t appear to do anything. What is it cancelling? I would not mind but I find from time to time when I switch on that the camera has reverted to this setting rather than staying on ‘Normal’. Can someone cleverer than me explain? The user profile implementation in Leica settings is not very intuitive and not thoroughly explained in the manual. I have not found a reference to the <cancel profile> or what happens if you select it. I've spent more time with it in my SL2-s because there are more customizable buttons and settings that I'd like to be able to recall quickly. I think the quirks that exist on the SL2 system are also present in the Q2 settings but it would require more testing than I've done to be certain they work the same way. Once a custom profile has been saved and then selected, it is indicated in the user profiles menu as the active profile. Once you make a change to any setting that was savable in your user profile (exposure settings for instance) that user profile is no longer indicated as active, though all the settings from that profile (except the ones you've altered) remain in place. This can be confusing - leaving the impression that the camera has forgotten the setting selected and reverted back to factory settings. It would make sense that the <cancel profile> would cancel the recent changes and revert back to the last active user profile (or perhaps the default profile) but this would not appear to be any easier than just re-selecting the user profile one wants. I hope that the user profile implementation is addressed in a future firmware update. It's an important control that could work more intuitively. Yes, cancel just means that you cancel the added changes. And if you want them to be included into the preset, then you need to save the preset again. It's very important that everybody that does not understand the presets and the rest of the menu, gives a short note to Leica. The more feedback the better. I struggle with every little detail that I want to change has to be changed in every preset if I find something new. It would be great if we could edit the presets on an iPad or iPhone or android and then transfer them to the camera. In the manual there is a page with configurations and its very easy to spot what's on or off. I would prefer something like that to change presets for the Kamera. The other thing that drives me nuts is, that the menus of S,SL,M,Q look and feel different and they have different entries at different location. And different wording. This is very confusing.
