Torn on what strap to use.  I go on tripod pretty often and handheld often as well.  I used to use the artisan and artist straps on my old S's but I almost knocked it off the tripod once since I used to just let them hang.  I have tried the peak design quick release ones which worked but are not super comfortable.  Is there something in the middle of these two or something you guys recommend that of course looks good as well.

For years, I have used the Op/Tech Pro straps on almost all my cameras. The middle part unclips so you can remove it. On a tripod, with the middle unclipped you have either a couple of short ends (maybe 6 or 8" each) hanging from the lugs or you can clip them together to form a loop. They're pretty inexpensive and comfortable, too. https://www.optechusa.com/pro-strap.html

@lab-coat, I have used several of the peak one’s on the M system, but I also keep the newer peak one fobs on my S and SL (the thicker waxed strings which don’t fit through the M eye-holes).  I find the narrow straps that work on my M’s to be too narrow for the heavier body / lens combinations.  However, I have found I really like the wide peak one strap here:

To be truthful, I am not carrying it far as I shoot a lot on the coast, but it holds the weight well.

The other strap I have used with the SL that is really comfortable is the Eddycam strap, made of elk leather.  It is incredibly comfortable and doesn’t slip on my shoulder.  But, I think the weather I take my S out in is not so good for a leather strap, but this might be of interest to you.

My favorite strap is the Tamrac N-45 strap, which is padded suede with quick releases. Unfortunately they stopped making it several years ago. I still think they are the most comfortable and ergonomic straps I have used for heavy cameras. They are too bulky for a Leica M, for example, but for the SL2 and S camera, or for my Mamiya 7II, they are perfect. If you can find one somewhere in a camera store's old stock or on eBay etc, they are worth a look. Another advantage is that it is inexpensive and not going to suffer much from being in bad weather. I have had the suede get wet a number of times here in Iceland, and it seems to be more or less no worse for the wear.
