Yellow light on battery charger

According to the manual, the yellow light is supposed to light while the battery is charging. On mine is flickers a little for maybe thirty seconds when I first start charging, but then goes out. Even so, the battery seems to be charging and shows a full charge after the prescribed three hours.

Has anyone has seen this with their charger? I assume it is faulty wiring affecting only the LED itself and that the charger is functioning fine.

G, I get a green lite when the charger is plugged in and a yellow lite while the battery is charging. The yellow goes out when the battery is fully charged. There is no blinking on my unit.

If yours is new, it may be defective and a call to Leica might get you a new one.

It doesnt really blink, just flickers like a bad connection. I have had it since November. As long as it continues to charge, I can probably live with it. I have already bothered Leica US enough with other problems that I will hold off until it actually stops working.

Weren't there reports of this kind of thing once before? If I recall correctly, Leica replaced the charger.

This was at the beginning when they were still looking for the causes of SDS.

Watch it carefully and smell it daily. ;)

I did have such a problem early on (Nov-Dec 2006). I tracked it down to the crappy power plug adapter not snapping into the charger properly. Another way to test it is try using the in car cirarette lighter option. That is independent of the plug adapter. If that work faultlessly, you can be fairly sure it comes back to the pug-in adapter.
