ejg1890 Posted March 7, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I am considering a Leica M10-R or M10-P, but have read/heard the reviews where I understand there is an issue with the M10-R’s color rendition on camera, in Capture One and Adobe Camera Raw (Lightroom and Photoshop). The photos I saw defiantly had a green color cast to them. However, a number of the reviews considered the “R” a “buy” over the “P”. I did also read in the summer of 2021 Capture One did release an updated M10-R color profile. Similar I had also read the “R” appears to have more noise at lower ISO than the “P”, but less noise than the “P” at higher ISO (the ISO threshold had not been identified) . What is the status currently of the “R” model? Is there a color rendition issue with Adobe Camera Raw (I use Lightroom Classic, Mobile and Photoshop). If so is there a work around or an update that occurred which I have not heard about. I have seen the photos with a green color cast. I know of a firmware update for perspective control, but has there been a firmware or adobe camera raw update that resolves the color rendering issue? Also any feedback on the ISO noise generation from above? One last thing, is I am not in need of the 40mp over the 24mp.I look at the “R” as the more recent sensor with more recent technology and relevant for a longer period of time. Thanks Edited March 7, 2022 by ejg1890

Thanks I use Adobe Camera Raw and have virtually no issues with color cast. I apply both the Adobe Color profile and a custom M10R profile and there's very little difference between the two. Both work very well. I also had no color cast issues with my M10-P. I've had no noise issues with either the M10-P or M10R, but I don't generally go beyond ISO 6400. Both cameras produce excellent files in my opinion. Edited March 8, 2022 by fotografr

I use Adobe Camera Raw, open each foto in both profiles - Adobe Color and M 10R profile - and than choose the one, I like more.
Fedro Posted March 11, 2022 Share #4 Posted March 11, 2022 I have had both, no problem with either the R sensor is lovely, and 40 MP can be useful even when not strictly needed if money is no object I would go for that

It looks true to life. as far as the M10R sensor and noise, the 10P noise goes up as the ISO goes up. However the 10R is ISO Invariant. So as the ISO goes up, the noise does until ISO 800 and then it falls back down to ISO400. So at ISO800 it has the noise of ISO400 and it goes up like that. You can see a chart of both sensors online for ISO and noise so you can see. I have never been in a situation where I need more than ISO6400. I’ve never had an issue with noise. I shot the M10P before the 10R. Didn’t give me noise issues either. Camera sensors have been ISO invariant for many years now (even Leica!!!) That M10R 800 / 400 thing is what's known as a dual gain sensor (again something that's been around for a while)
petereprice Posted April 11, 2022 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2022 I had the same dilemma. I had to choose between the R and the P. In the end I chose the R. Mainly for the amazing dynamic range, highlight recovery, newer sensor technology and and improved color. I saw feel like it did black and white conversion better than than the P.
