marcwilson Posted February 20, 2022 Share #1  Posted February 20, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I used an SL a year or so ago and whilst the evf was really clear indoors, under overcast flat outdoor conditions (which I like to work in) I found it harder to focus over other evf's I had used. It seemed to lose its brightness however I set it up as. I know some others had found this also but not everyone. I was wondering if anyone using the newer SL2 has found the evf improved in these flatter outdoor shooting conditions. Thanks, Marc
Advertisement Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Hi marcwilson, Take a look here EVF in flatter outdoor conditions on SL-2 vs SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
beewee Posted February 20, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted February 20, 2022 I found the challenge was the opposite with the SL2-S if I was using auto-brightness where, in bright environments like sunny snow covered places where I would need pretty dark sunglasses, I had more of an issue with the viewfinder being too dark. My solution is to have a preset that turns off the auto-brightness in the EVF and just have it set to max brightness and this works fine.
marcwilson Posted February 21, 2022 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 21, 2022 Thank you beewee, I seem to remember there was minimal control I had over the evf brightness in the SL (I might be recalling incorrectly though) but being able to set the brightness etc on the SL2 should fix any issues. The color and brightness of SL1's EVF is quite different from the LCD, so sometimes it's hard for me to judge if the image in the EVF is really OK enough. I thought I would be satisfied with the EVF in SL2, but seems the color and brightness is OK, but when I amplify the image to help focus in EVF, I found it not very clear. So I am still trying more to find a solution.
