Hi folks!

I have a project coming up where I would like to use a (particularly) flare resistent 90-ish mm lens on SLx. The scene is a long-distance landscape, with the lens focus set to near infinity. Sharpness is required across the image, with the lens aperture a little closed (say f5.6 to 8). Only manual focus will be used. Any particular recommendations?

I guess the first suspect should be the Summicron 90SL - here are some examples that you might find helpful:

Helged,  I would totally agree with Hofo 100 at post #2.  The SL 90mm Apo Summicron is very flare resistant.  Are you looking for a L or M to L mount third party brand X lens to test?  If so, there are lenses out there that might qualifiy for your beta SLX test.  r/ Mark

Any mount would do the work; the camera will be left "alone" for years; and for that reason the SL90 is sort of over-kill...

Technically, you'll get the least flare with modern lenses (with modern coating) that have few lens elements. The M 90/4.0 and the Zeiss ZM 85/4.0 meet both of those criteria, but any of the SL lenses should be fine since they have the very latest coatings.

One the cheaper side of things, the new Sigma 90/2.8 and Panasonic 85/1.8 are also worthy of consideration.

The Sigma i-series 90/2.8 looks like a fantastic bang for the buck. The coatings are quite decent and I expect if you use a lens hood, it would be quite flare resistant. It’ll be sharp enough when stopped down to f/5.6-8

Yes, I am also considering the Sigma 70mm Macro Art...

here you go - f8, focus on the trees (almost infinity).
