Guest Posted August 25, 2022 Share #31 Posted August 25, 2022 This lens is so amazing! At the risk of repeating myself, this feels like the 35mm Noctilux that Leica owes us for L-Mount. All of the images shot on SL2-S, at f/1.2, backroom of a local brewery (highly recommended if you are in the Seattle area): Welcome, dear visitor! Almizilero Posted August 31, 2022 Share #33 Posted August 31, 2022 A couple of portraits with the 35/1.2 on the SL2s. All shot wide open. Ein wasserfestes Model war schnell gefunden, nur der Regen kam dann doch nicht. Oder nicht zur richtigen Zeit. Vorher ja, nachher ja, nur während des Shootings nicht. AdjusterBrett Posted January 1 Share #40 Posted January 1 I've watched this lens for what seems years now. Noting that you have continued to share photos - I assume the honeymoon is over but the romance has continued... You asked why the lens receives little recognition and I'll offer you my real world take on it... No pro - just a weekend hack... I came to know 35mm by dumb luck - my third real camera purchase was a Sony RX1 (FF, fixed Zeiss 35/2.0). It taught me the zoom dance - couple steps forward, couple steps back, etc... Had I not purchased this (or a Q or a X100) - the drive for the focal length might have been stronger - but most today are NOT taught on the 35mm standard. Through all the systems I've had - I've NEVER purchased a 35mm - as over time/experience I realized I always had the tiny RX1 with me - and few native lenses even today can beat it. Although not a FAIR comparison - I'd suggest any Q or X100 owner would suggest similar - that makes the focal length fall way down on the listing of wants and needs... Your photos are exceptional, as is the lens... For you, 35mm is likely a goto. For me (or any Q or X100 owner) - that mid twenties to thirty five is taken up by our compacts. Secondly - size. I am a past owner of the bokeh monster - Mr. 105/1.4 by Sigma. When mounted on the S1 (pana) - I could anchor a Nimitz class carrier (port or starboard). When mounted on my TL2 - well let's just say it was like magic - you would ask - how is that guy taking photos with just a lens? Because it was all you could see. I put the 105/1.4 in the GOD tier - incredible images - much like the Hummel, but only 1/2 the size... Ultimately, it fell to the catch and release program - as heading out with a bag - it took up the entire thing - and you do not want to shoot a school play or a wedding with ONLY that lens. IT WAS HUGE, period. I have and take the 105/2.8m, the 85/1.4, and the pana 20-60 in the same space (and weight)... Your 35 is very large and it takes a COMMITMENT to allocate bag space to a 35mm (something else has to be left behind). In my case - I can fit the RX1 almost anywhere - it's tiny (relatively), and paired with a godox TT350 - it's hard to beat. That said - I bet I've watched (at least twice) every single review on YouTube - but just never pulled the trigger. For me - if I'm shooting 35 - its the RX1, and most of the time I'm shooting (main body) a vintage 50... Now - that said - I LOVE your photos - and if I didn't have an RX1 or a Q, I think I would have bought this lens a while ago. Food for thought. (let me know when you get the 50/1.2, love to know what you think between the two - its another one I've been stalking). 3
