I had a problem this morning when I went out for a shoot. I took one exposure, and the camera refused to operate after that. It would not focus, would not trip the shutter. The red "busy" light by the card door remained lit, even when I turned the camera off. I turned it back on, and the AF was working, but the red light was still on and I could not trip the shutter. When I got home, I noticed the camera base was warm, so I removed the battery for a minute and then put it back in. Turned the camera on and it seems to work now. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a sign something is going south with the electronics? I'd hate to have it happen again and not be able to restart by removing the battery. Damn shame because I really like the camera and have invested in 3 Leica S primes.

Modern cameras are computers. Sometimes they freeze. Usually a restart (or in this case, battery removal) is enough to clear out the camera. I had an s006 for six years, and this would happen sporadically. Maybe a few times a year. I don’t recall a case where I could not fix it within a minute or less by removing the battery.

My S 006 also froze on the street while I was using it and never came back! Changing batteries didn’t help, charging didn’t help either.. I took it to camerawest in Walnut Creek, CA where I bought it from and they switched with an S007.. for some extra $$$$ of course.. but got a decent deal.. nothing of that sort happened with the S007 so far..

My S-E does this in addition to the camera over exposing images in auto. It’s more frequent in cold weather. I suspect it is resolved with a motherboard  change because each of my S cameras have or had this one issue or another and Leica wants to change the motherboard whenever the cameras are sent for repair.

It happened to me once with the S006, in five years and tens of thousands of images. I removed the battery, re-seated the lens, and everything was fine after that.

Be sure to re-format your cards after you download your images, just in case.

It can also happen with a bad compact flash card, which is more common than. Problems with SD cards.

Talking of SD cards, what's the highest capacity that the 007 can take? I tried a 1TB and it couldn't find the card (although my Nikon D800 did). I tend to stick with 128GB cards anyway as you don't want all your eggs in one basket, right?

Since I use CF cards, I use 64gb SD’s with them, no reason to have one larger than the other as it would fill up.  I also use the 64gb cards in my SL2-S, so dual purpose.  I prefer the smaller, but much faster cards.

Also looked in the S3 manual and S007 tech sheets and it only specifies the type of card, but not a max.  What are the specs of your 1TB card?  curios…

I don't wish to start a new thread, but does anyone get a Low Battery warning message (even though the battery monitor shows a full charge) on their 007 when using Live View? Does it need sending it to Leica?

What happens if you put the batter in the charger?  Is it immediately ready?  I do think the battery levels cover a broad range, but there is a big different between full and empty!  I’ve had M batteries that showed fully charged and were not, but it was the charger.

Ok, the S3 tech sheet says the SD cards < 512gb.  So there is the answer.   The S007 and S3 will not take 1TB cards….
