Ok to give you guys an update, I grabbed the M1 and I've run half a roll of film through it so far just using the 35 mil framelines and my 35 mil Summilux. The camera is in fantastic condition and was owned by a Leica technician of 30 years. It's been great fun shooting it today. I also grabbed a Rolleicord Vb in mint condition which will be a nice portrait camera and I feel will compliment the M1 nicely. 

 

Thank you all for your input, I would have loved an into but they're just not available in this condition and I did really have a preference to buy local and touch and feel before I purchased.

I dropped in to a friend's place today and he supplied me with these socket plugs. He makes them by hand out of brass, titanium or some sort of ultra hard plastic. The plastic comes in white, red or black. They fit better than the original plugs in my opinion and finish the camera off nicely.

Decades ago, the "must have" same device was from a used Bic pens.

It seems that these caps (same color as the ink) are glued now (for reasons I don't know).

 

So now 3D printing may answer this first class need.
