Rangeman133 Posted February 2, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) just wondering if this is normal. i did not use liveview, but it was set to Review photos for 5 seconds. i only used the camera for less than 10 minutes before noticing the LCD near the battery side was starting to feel noticeably warm. i have a chance to return the camera, which is in fairly used condition. just not sure if this warmth issue is me overreacting, or something that is normal for the camera. i have read some earlier models had an issue with this, but not sure if my serial number is an earlier model. is there any way to find this out? thanks in advance for any help! Advertisement Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Hi Rangeman133, Take a look here bought a used M10, but LCD started to feel 'warm' after using for only 10 minutes. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dennis Posted February 2, 2022 Share #2 Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) It shouldn't happen. If you are not feeling comfortable (if you can), return the camera. I never had problem with the camera warming up, especially using OVF only, and sometimes review. It should be "cold", even after 600 shots and a dead battery, or a very little warm. But after a few minutes, no way, even on LV Edited February 2, 2022 by Dennis added sentence

How many photos did you take in that 10 minutes (i.e. was the screen on for most of that time while the reviewed photo was popping up?). Perhaps it depends on climate but I always find they heat up significantly if the screen is on, or if I'm using the EVF in live view. M10M, M10R, M11 are all the same in this way. If the screen is inactive it shouldn't heat up to the point of being uncomfortable as long as you have image review set to off (or are only taking a few photos during that time). rramesh Posted February 4, 2022 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2022 The LCD warms up only when in constant use or if you have placed your camera in a location where it warms up. Best would be to keep it switched off by default and only turn on when required to check photo or use menu options. Alternately, see how quickly the battery drains. Without the LCD on, not using WiFi or a Visoflex, the battery should last 500+ shots easily.
250swb Posted February 4, 2022 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2022 (edited) It is normal for the camera to warm up if you are using the LCD and Live View, or reviewing a lot of images, and more so if you are taking a lot of photos as well. It isn't an 'issue' and nothing to be worried about. Edited February 4, 2022 by 250swb
