Started 15 years ago in London, the idea has now spread to many cities worldwide. I know that New York, Dublin, Tel Aviv have them amongst others. Is there one in your city? The concept enable one to gain free access to properties, both domestic, commercial, and public, most of which have some architectural interest, to which one would not normally be able to visit. However, some of the more popular require prior booking with timed entry (e.g. One St. Mary Axe). Those around London can get more details here. I am proposing that a single thread in the Architecture section of Photo Forum be used for folks to post their pictures taken of or within "Open House" buildings on that weekend the 15th and 16th September. Please stick to Open House cities and buildings and shots taken on the 15/16th this year! Any takers? Should this be turned into an informal competition? Maybe an informal one Gosh, fifteen years practice and they still haven't managed to produce a legible web site. Every year I get to this point and think: "I'll just look at their web site and make a list of places to visit". Why their online guide isn't more usable is beyond me; it's only really searchable if you know the name of the building. Rant over Here are some pics from last year. Click Michael It's my impression that this year's website is much worse than last year's. Still one can find general headings of things. But trying to assemble a coherent set within a reachable area is not too easy I'm afraid. But don't let that put anyone off! I bought the manual/catalogue for £4.
