RexGig0 Posted January 31, 2022 Share #21  Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Sorry, but the linked article was not very informative. It level of scholarship is something that I would expect, from, well, a high school student. I fail to see how Nikon’s Noct relates to the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95, other than the Nikon lens simply being a long-normal-focal-length f/0.95 lens. Leica has generally kept making 50mm lenses, in the Noctilux-M series, whereas Nikon discontinued its Noct-Nikkor F-mount lens, some time ago, and recently resurrected it as a completely re-designed Z-mount lens. The Burj Khalifa being built, without the sewage infrastructure first being installed, is nothing new. New skyscrapers, and other large developments, have been built, in the past, and some are still being built, without proper utilities, streets, and other infrastructure already being in place. The UAE, of course, has plenty of low-wage workers available, to empty their space-age chamber pots, so, there is no true need for a proper sewage system to have preceded the skyscraper. (To be clear, I am not picking on the UAE, as we are fighting some shameful development, locally, in Texas, USA. We voted-out most of the idiots who approved the project, and the city manager was forced to resign, in shame, but the contracts remain in place, and wheels keep rolling…)  Edited January 31, 2022 by RexGig0

The author complains being that the lens is not that useful, and is so bulky and expensive. I have no opinion. Some might complain that the Noctilux lenses are also not that necessary given the sensitivity of the latest sensors.

Notably, however, there are buyers, in queues, waiting for the new Noct Nikkor, and Leica seems to have no trouble selling all available Noctilux lenses. Those who hate the Noct and Noctilux lenses may be foxes, griping about grapes, growing on tall vines? 😉

Dentists, news-casters, funeral directors....these are the ones who buy such stuff. Pros? Not so much.  I do think, as I have said before, that Noctilux lenses are more suited to EVF cameras such as the Leica SL. Leica knows it’s users can afford it! Can’t say that about Nikon.. maybe they could’ve priced their noct at 4996usd as opposed to 7996usd 😊 besides why would anyone want to hold a camera that does not balance well! Prior to the z9 launch, their tiny bodies were not idea to pair with the noct
