AZD Posted January 17, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello All, Joining as a recent owner of a 1955 M3. I’m 99.9% film/analog, with most of that being black and white developed and printed at home. I’ve been an Nikon and Pentax SLR user for as long as I can remember but wanted a rangefinder to complement them. Figured I’d just get right to the point with a Leica. No lens yet, which is one of my reasons for joining. It’s always good to see examples from others. Adam

Sandokan Posted January 17, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2022 Welcome Adam, just decide your focal length and then spend hours poring over all the different variations available. Are you fully analogue or a hybrid digital-analogue photographer?
AZD Posted January 18, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted January 18, 2022 Thanks! I guess I never got over the standard 50mm lenses yet. They see the most use by far. Lots of choices, and I’ve already fallen down that research rabbit hole. If I could magically turn the F mount 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor-S Auto into a real M lens I would. It’s not great compared to what came after, but there’s something special to it. Those qualities combined with the mechanical smoothness and fast handling of the M3 would be ideal. For now my work is 100% analog, the final output being 3.5” x 5” proof prints of anything decent, and larger sizes for the good ones. I recently began setting up a second enlarger to handle up to 16” x 20”, but haven’t gone that big yet.
