GoodmanS Posted September 6, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) So was close to making it to five thousand with very few glitches, until I had the dreaded 'two sensors' problem arise, where there is a very distinguished line down the middle of the picture. After a few shoots it went away, so the question is have people with this issue, or other issues, crossed their fingers or sent their cameras in immediately? It is a six month black old m8 running original 1.09 thanks
Advertisement Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Hi GoodmanS, Take a look here Let the Problems Begin. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bradreiman Posted September 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 7, 2007 i have a few glitches here and there. usually take the battery out and replace it. can't say i've lost any shots because of glitches thankfully. my m8 is from the release week and no sensor board upgrade yet plus i dropped it 2m onto asphalt once. works better than any other electronic appliance i have ever owned....b
dcoombs Posted September 7, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2007 Any reason why you haven't upgraded the firmware? There have been improvements. Doug
grober Posted September 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2007 Bought my M8 the very first day it was available here in the USA last November. (I had been #1 on the list at my local Leica dealer for three months prior to 8 November!) Greatly dis-heartened when Leica said, "Send the camera to Solms for a mandatory fix." But I boxed it up anyway and mailed it off to Germany on Pearl Harbor Day (7 Dec 06). Camera returned in early Feb with no problems since save for one time when I needed to remove the battery to solve some problem I've already forgotten. Yeah, I wasn't too happy about all the IR filters we needed to buy but that pain-point is largely behind us now. Regarding 6-bit coding of lenses, the last Leica lens I own that needs this service is currently in the hand of Leica Service getting the work done. Of course, just after I receive this puppy back, Leica will announce their next M8 firmware release with the user-selecteable menu for telling the camera which lens is mounted. Oh well... I'm more exercised about all the computer learning I've had to absorb about color management and digital workflows. We have plans afoot for a Photoshop upgrade soon plus the invariable need for yet more disk storage and a better more standardized approach to long-term data archiving. Ugh. (Remember when photography used to be simple?) Get off that old version of firmware, suck up your courage and download the current version from the Leica site. I always wait a week or two whenever any new firmware version is released (on anything!) so I don't have to be a bleeding edge casualty in case the new stuff bombs or is overly buggy. After postings on this forum about the latest firmware settles down, that's the time to proceed and get the new release. Get off that old stuff and get in step with the program! -g
