MoWa Posted January 7, 2022 Share #1  Posted January 7, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a SL2-s for my videowork. Nice camera with good features for video. But am i missing something here? Since i guess Leica made this camera for professional use i am a bit suprised that that the camera is not possible to show overlay from the EVF or tally frame, recording light on hdmi output? I think in a pro setup like mine with a external viewfinder or monitor it is realy missing an important feature here. Even my old Nikon D850 have this feature. I guess this could be fixed in a feature firmware update. Any tought on this?
Advertisement Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Hi MoWa, Take a look here Leica SL2s -Tally frame not on hdmi out..?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted January 7, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted January 7, 2022 REC frame show on the camera. HDMI out is only clean. I you have a recorder like Atomos the trigger function will turn on the frame on the recorder too. Â
MoWa Posted January 7, 2022 Author Share #3  Posted January 7, 2022 Ok, but is not working on external evf, like Portkeys EVF and on diferent monitors. I have not tried Atomos recorder yet. But there should have been an option to show overlay on hdmi out. it is usefull to see info in the external evf

Camera that can add overlay info on top of their HDMI signal usually cook something else into it like noise reduction. It's not Raw from the sensor but it gets awfully close w/o the disadvantages (massive files sizes, grainy washed out files, no lens corrections...etc). From the L mount I believe the SL2s, however nice, get trumpled by S1H (new one should come out late 22) in terms of features you may want on dedicated shoots like vertorscope, finely adjustable shutter angle, more exposing tools, access to dual gain settings, lower pre-amps setting, redaily availble XLR solition, flip-out screen, ventilation for constant sensor temps...etc. Besides, good news Leitz Cine joined the L-Mount alliance as separate entity.... we might see exciting L-mount things and lenses coming out.
