Hey All,

I just got the Leica M10 Leather Protector half-case for my M10, and I thought I'd share about it. I love the quality, and that the base of the case seems to be metal covered in high quality leather, and cloth. It fits like a glove, and I love the rectangle shape of the bump-grip, rather than the oval grip so many of these have. I actually prefer not having a door on the bottom to access the battery/memory card, as I feel having the baseplate off would have to compromise the weather sealing of the camera.

My favorite part is the back fold-down cover on the case, which in many ways makes the camera feel like an M10D. I turned off image review, and find myself rarely checking to see if I got the shot, and instead shooting the camera as if it's my M2 much more. It really has made a difference in the way I work.

My biggest complaint on this case is the bottom screw that attaches the case to the camera. This screw needed to have a 1/4 inch tripod thread, so I could mount a tripod plate to the camera without removing the case. This would have been easy to implement, and I can't imagine it would have cost Leica any more money to produce.

All-in-All this case is brilliant for the $200 I paid for it!!

I agree 100% with your evaluation of the half-case and love mine too.  I especially like how it protects my screen when I am transporting or wearing the camera.

Swapped out the original bottom screw for a compatible one that’s much easier to use.  This one small mod improves the functionality massively.

Wait, how did you get the original bottom screw out? I tried, and it seemed to be permanent. Did you cut it out?

Honestly, for the cost of this case it is very nice!!

Looks very nice! When the back flap is in place, does it hinder the eye relief area/make your eye farther from the OVF for frame lines and such? It looks like it goes right up to it so curious if it affects eye placement/viewing.

I haven’t noticed any hindrance to eye-relief. Looking through the viewfinder seems to be the same experience as without the case. Keep in mind, I do not where glasses.

I forgot to mention. You can take the back cover off, and use it as you would any half-case.

I bought one last year, and it's now a permanent part of my M10. Love it. As you said, it feels like an M10D.

I tried at a Leica store many half cases, all prices and brands. I finally choose this one, it checks all my needs. The ergonomic is just perfect (w/ Thumbs Up).

.

All black, it looks wow, at least for me 🙂

It does look great in all black! Can’t agree more that the ergonomics, when combined with a thumbs up, are just great! I didn’t expect to like it this much!

Hi Allan,

The original screw didn't take too much effort to remove.  I remember pushing a bit on it and then it popped out.  I had a spare replacement screw (with the flip tab as shown in my photo) already from a previous project so it was an easy and cheap mod.
