If by some miracle I win this bid on ebay should I be worried??

I bid 500 and there is only a day left and no one has bid higher, i find this strange as I figured it to go at least 1500.

If I do win and actually do get a real m8 that works, I will let u know.

Yes - if it seems too cheap then it probably is. There are a couple of cameras listed right now that are obviously fraud listings - hijacked accounts used to offer high value items at seemingly irristable low prices. You'll never see the camera, or your money, again.

First of all either you are very naive, or are quite new to the eBay auction site. High end items going for a low price or low reserve generally are bogus, and you, as a bidder should beware. Second, quality high end items generally have a lot of last minute bids entered, often by bidding proxys, so early bids are virtually meaningless. Lastly, it isn't a very wise thing to announce your bid, or even the fact that you are bidding, because unscrupulous people can piece together enough info to present you with a fake "second chance" offer, which unfortunately often results in people losing their money. Hopefully you will be more circumspect in the future, and get some genuine good items at reasonable prices on the big auction site. I've been a buyer and seller for several years, and can attest to there being some good deals out there for individuals who do their due diligence and get lucky in the bidding process.

Be careful Steve.

Remember Digital cameras don't hold their value for long.

The higher the price, the bigger the price drop.

Good Luck.

Not always true - high quality low volume specialist cameras can hold their value really rather well, witness the Leica Digilux 2, which is still hard to find for less than half it's original price. The Epson R D1 is another. I've even seen Digilux 1 models selling for rather good money - Quality always tells.

I have no doubt that the price of the M8 will continue to rise for a couple of years, so current models will hold their value well, and even if there is an M9 in a few years, it's high price will always make the M8 an attractive second hand proposition.
