Hi,

I had a really annoying incident where I was viewing images and the key image was deleted. No secondary message (like when you press menu) and too late - the image is lost. Very disappointing as it was a really good shot.

Trying to repeat the action to see what happened, I think I pressed the Fn button, while viewing the image on the screen, and a small bin icon comes up on the centre right of the screen, which I must have touched unintentionally. I have never done this before - and hope not to again.

I could not recover the DNG using Image Rescue. Only a corrupted pink image of noise - it is 86MB like the other ones. Any suggestions about how to get the original picture out of this, would be gratefully received!

Thanks, Nick

If it is 86 MB, the raw data might still be there. Try two things: change the extension to .tif,  and run it through Adobe's DNG converter. Other than that you can try other free recovery software.

I can guess what probably happened. I don't own a Q2 but my CL seems to have a very similar user interface, and this sh*t delete thing is my one & only issue with this otherwise near perfect incarnation of beauty with technology in camera form etc etc. you get the idea.

The problem is that in review mode pushing the FN button puts the camera in delete STATE until you EXPLICITLY cancel that.

Now suppose that like me, you take multiple shots of the same scene and you want to make an in camera selection of the one to keep. You push FN, and the center button on the directional pad to remove the header and footer, to get s better view. You scroll through shots, delete some and find the one you want to keep. You want to double check the picture data in the header or footer and push the center button to view it. ZAP! Pic gone forever as you forgot that in delete STATE the center button CONFIRMS the... delete.
