Here is a challenge for the forum's experts. Can anyone please give me some idea of the size of the box that the SL2-S and 24-70mm lens kit comes in? I am going to have to carry one around for a bit and would like to find a holdall big enough, if possible!

Thanks in anticipation .... Postie John

Well, I have the answer. The box for the body + 24-70 bundle is E-N-O-R-M-O-U-S.

The body and lens come in their normal boxes, with sizes as kindly listed by @Photoworks. They are then put into a larger box with a pretty hefty layer of foam padding around them. I think this is partly so that the bundle can have a single serial number (the body and lens have their own, as normal) but I'm not sure why they needed to add another few inches of protection on top of what the normal boxes offer.

Aren't those the specification for the lens only? The page contains two different package dimensions and I think one is for the camera and the other for the lens. The weight for the camera is given as 2lb, for the lens as 1.9lb.

Correct - I didnt take two screen shots, but I believe there is a box for lens and another for camera and they then pack it into a bigger box for shipping, which is probably not a Leica box and could be discarded whilst a person would keep both the Leica boxes.

Yup. Packed into a MUCH bigger box for shipping. There is a shiny Leica black box with an extra inch or more of foam padding inside, which holds the body and lens in their normal boxes. Then the big box is put into a close-fitting plain thin brown box like all the bodies I have seen. I think part of the reason is that there is a separate serial number for the combo, this is on a barcode label on the outer box so that the seller can scan it. The mystery to me is why they needed the extra layer of padding, which makes the box so big as to be unmanageable.
