elechicken Posted December 17, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted December 17, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought R3+Summicron 50mm few days ago, and tested this and that. The lens seems to work very nicely and smoothly with great condition inside and out but R3 body have some issues. I inserted 2 LR44 batteries and battery check light turns on as normal, but shutter only works in emergency mode(1/90 speed) and lightmeter needle do not moves no matter what settings I change. I bought the set mainly for Summicron lens anyway(in fact it still is a very good price considering the condition of the lens except the value of the body) but I want to save this body if I can. I searched internet few hours for answer but I couldn't find exact same case as mine. Is it possible to repair this R3? Thanks.
Advertisement Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Hi elechicken, Take a look here R3 electronics failure while battery check light turns on. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 17, 2021 Share #2  Posted December 17, 2021 Doubtful. The electronics, such as they were at the time, were not the most reliable part, and unless you are very handy with soldering iron and capacitors, not available for repair.
elechicken Posted December 24, 2021 Author Share #3  Posted December 24, 2021 Update I took that R3 to local repairer(not particularly polular for leica repair but known to fix almost anything pretty well) and after opening up, the guy said the entire electronic bits are completely destroyed, plus he can fix it but it will cost approx. 3-400 usd so I decided not to fix this one. Sad to see the end of a brilliant camera, but that's just too much for repair.
