stunsworth Posted September 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last week I spent some time with some friends who live near the small French town of St Benoit du Sault. This is one of those very pretty small towns that France seems to have thousands of. I spotted these two girls having lunch sat on what had once been the town walls. M8, Tri-Elmar at 28mm. elansprint72 Posted September 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2007 I cannot fathom why we get so few posts from France; seems to me that there is far more to "see" over there. Steve, forgive me for not commenting on your posts individually; if you post a crapster, I'll let you know
stunsworth Posted September 5, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted September 5, 2007 Ivan/Pete, thanks for the comments. I have some more French shots up my sleeve, but I want to get back home and use my b&w plugin before I post them. Pete, as you may have realised I love France. Driving back from the South I stopped at a very small town that had a 2* hotel and had one of the best meals of the holiday. In the UK I'd have been probably ended up in a Travel Lodge stuck next to a Wacky Warehouse.
elansprint72 Posted September 5, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2007 We are on the same wave-length re France vs UK travel and victuals, erm...... dude.

samwells Posted September 6, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 6, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Steve - That's a lovely shot...and it's fascinating how the viewpoint, angle, and WA lens seem to make the two girls look out of proportion...seems almost like a miniature model village in the background. Great! cheers: Sam
stuny Posted September 6, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 6, 2007 Steve - Lovely composition, excellent air to the implied story of the photo. I'm sending you a PM about a lovely spot in France.
cocker Posted September 6, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 6, 2007 Pete, as you may have realised I love France. I always knew you were one of the good guys - you take some good pictures as well! One the best compliments my wife and I had abroad was being mistaken for French people.Look forward to seeing more France in your posts.
andybarton Posted September 6, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 6, 2007 Hang on - even I have been mistaken for a Frenchman, by a French woman... The whole French attitude to life is very appealing to us Anglo-Saxons, who seem to get tied up in minutae, to the detriment of life itself. After all, you only get one go at it, so you may as well make the most of it, as the French do. Oh, and this looks like a charming place, Steve. Isn't there a mineral water that comes from this palce?
stunsworth Posted September 6, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted September 6, 2007 Thanks everyone, it really is a very pretty place that is off the usual beaten tourist track - though everytime I go I seem to hear more and more English voices. If you've ever zoomed doen the A20 to Toulouse and the south you'll have passed within a few miles of this place. The next town north - Argenton sur Creuse - makes a good stopping off point if you are travelling south from the channel as it's about 400 miles from Calais, has some hotels, and is also very pretty. Andy, I think your thinking of Badoit.

stunsworth Posted September 6, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted September 6, 2007 I usually get a late afternoon/evening ferry and then spend the night in France. Then drive south in the morning. Much more relaxing.
