grahamc Posted December 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone. I have a 1992 Germany made 35:1.4 titanium version of this lens that I am extremely happy with. When a lighter lens (or just a black 35mm lens) is wanted, I use 35:2 v4 but I have been a bit underwhelmed with it (could be my copy), which is another story. A standard black aluminium Germany copy of the 35:1.4 has come up for sale locally (unusual) so I am considering this can perhaps replace my my 35:2. The copy is 1988 made in Germany. Would anyone know if anything changed in terms of coatings for these Germany copies between 1988-1992 ? The objective is to duplicate my Titan copy (optically) but in the black aluminium . Many thanks Edited December 11, 2021 by grahamc
Advertisement Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 Hi grahamc, Take a look here 35:1.4 v2 ‘production year changes’ question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted December 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2021 Hello Graham, If it's 'Germany', I think that the same glass type/coating used in Ti model. I had for a while Ti coated 35 Summilux-M serial 3 6xx xxx (1992) sold and regretted, now I have black lighter model serial 3 53x xxx (1990) never seen any difference in rendering as the Ti model.
grahamc Posted December 11, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted December 11, 2021 (edited) Great Arnaud , thanks. The production year 1988 threw me a little bit as you often hear with these lenses the recommendation “look for a early 90’s Germany or titan”. I’m glad to know there shouldn’t be any difference in the Germany copies and quite keen to get this lens. Thanks again.
