I'm so happy today that I've picked up a beautiful 28mm Summaron at a great price!

This is my first 28mm, it feels soooo wide since I'm normally on 50mm. The rendering is very different to my other modern m lenses. Focusing with the small tab is not as hard as I imagined it would be. Now I just need to pick up my street photography game!

Here is another shot I like. Do you guys think this lens is better suited for black and white?

No. It’s equally pleasing for colour - for film portra in particular and IMO it has a fantastic rendering with the M9 colour palette - or B&W.

If you don't mind the f/5.6 Summaron is fine.  I shoot a lot in lower light and use 50/2 and 28/2 Summicrons so the ISO doesn't have to go too high.  The renderings from both of these are very nice.  Stopped down to 5.6 they're probably not much different than a Summaron, but I've never compared them.

I've got the new version and I'm really liking it so far. Too bad it started pouring so I didnt get many shots today. I might post my shots in the other thread instead.

Yes it’s going to be dreary all week in sydney isn’t it. Congrats on the lens - look forward to seeing more pics

The one thing you have to do with a 28 is get a lot closer to get good photographs, like right up on people. It will test you because you’re going to get up in their personal space if you want good results, at least with street photography. I have this same lens and it’s fantastic for street… just set it at F8 and pre-focus to 2 m, auto ISO & shutter speed to taste - when you can see their dental work, snap the photograph 🙂

Congrats on the beautiful lens! Use it in good health, good hunting.
