dawnsemd Posted October 25, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Debating what gear to bring. There is an 11lb carry on limit for domestic flight in Argentina. I was planning to bring q2 , SL2 have 21-50 lens sl35 rest M lens and renting 90-280 zoom, leaving behind M10mono. Considering now q2 plus buying vlux5 for zoom or bringing q2 plus mono plus m lens for deck photos. Any thoughts?
Advertisement Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Hi dawnsemd, Take a look here Antarctica carry on 11lb limit . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ravinj Posted October 26, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2021 (edited) None of your options have any redundancy. If one of the cameras or lens breaks down, tough luck. These are the trips where I prefer two bodies of same type. With that said, if you have to choose from your list: Q2 + SL2 with a rented Panasonic 70-200 F4 should leave enough weight for emergency supplies in your carry-on. SL2 with cropping can cover longer than 200MM would imply. Pack a Sony RX100VI or similar for a downgraded backup. PhotoCruiser Posted October 26, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 26, 2021 It depends what you wanna photograph there. For animals the Q series will be too wide For deck and landscape the Q will be fine If you need a strong tele/zoom then rent one for the SL2 and bring it attached to the SL2 Thats what I would do Chris
stuny Posted October 26, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 26, 2021 When we went I brought a D2 (which has a 28-75 zoom) and a Vlux2 (Leica loaned it to me since they kept my R8 DMR & 80-200 much longer than anticipated). That gear covered everything we needed. On that particular trip we also visited the Colchagua Valley and the capital area of Chile, all with carryon to go via ship from Ushuaia -- We only made it work by renting boots ahead of time to be picked up and left at the ship. .
