I had a friend over last night for dinner. He loves photography. I showed him my two Leica M's, one film and the other Digital. He asked me which is more reliable? I assumed that the M-A was because of not having any electronics. But is it?

It depends on what he means by reliable. The digital camera will probably be less reliable over the long term because Leica will have moved on from whatever technology is used and parts, even batteries, will no longer be available. On the other hand, the film camera has more moving parts subject to wear and could fail short-term but be repairable.

In the current and near future period of time, when both are in use, I would expect similar reliability.
