RaineRD Posted October 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Leica fam, I need help on how to restore a .log file from the SL2-S. We shot a wedding and couple of the files have the .log file (You may kiss the bride shot 😭 ) Is there a way to restore this? Is this similar to Panasonic's MDT file? Thanks in advance! Slender Posted October 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2021 Oh dear, that sounds horrible... what does the file look like, I have never seen this with my SL2.... Make a back up, and pop the sd back in the camera, does it play back from there?

I tried doing that and when it was back in the camera it just shows text of the filename.log when I play it back. I know it sucks specially it was the clip of the kiss the bride part. 😭 I reached out to Leica hopefully they have a fix for it. 🙏
Slender Posted October 14, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 14, 2021 (edited) I am really sorry to hear that... yeah hopefully someone can extract something out of it. Have you tried playing a copy of the file in VLC or Kyno (painless software)? Doesn't it open at all in your NLE of choice or media encoder? Experiment from a copy, not the original file... EDIT: May I suggest you invest in an atomos so you can record two video channels at once for those high-importance moment? Have you used segmented files? Could you tell us more about how it happened? I tried VLC and Resolve but its not opening. I will try to open it in a different computer. I have an Ninja V and Flame but they are being used with my S1 and SL. The SL2-s was on a gimbal during that time. I don't even know what happened. I didn't really get a chance to review all shots during the wedding since the schedule was behind. I was just doing record and go. There where only 2 files that ended up with .log the rest where ok.
