Let me add my cheers to Sandy for a job well done.

 

I have only had the product for a few hours so am still working on how to use it effectively. I guess the first step is to remove the UV/IR filters from a few wide angle lenses and go shooting. I will repeat all the images with the filter on as well to be able to do a side by side comparison.

Woody, this program is for wide angle lenses WITH the UV/IR filter ON the lens, just not the lens coded. I haven't tried it yet, but will do so later today. I saw that nobody else caught your mistake so thought I'd let you know.

I'd also like to thank Sandy and all others involved with this project to produce a very effective tool.

 

Have had real difficulty getting the Zeiss 21mm f4.5 hand coded and it produces noticeable cyan drift, rendering some images pretty much useless. Cornerfix has rectified the problem and is so easy to use. Batch facility is very useful indeed.

 

Retrospectively fixing then copying LR adjustments to the _CF file was straightforward, if not a little repetitive.

 

Would be interested to see if Cornerfix produces a better result than anyone who has managed to hand code the Zeiss 21mm f4.5 and thus with enabled Leica firmware correction.

making your own profiles is very simple, assuming you've got the lens you want to profile!

 

Simply take a photo of a neutral field (wall, card) with the lens/filter/aperture combination you want to have profiled. Load the image and then select "Create Profile" from the "Lens Profile" menu.

Carl is right - CornerFix is pretty tolerant of minor imperfections in the reference image. Firstly, CornerFix uses statistical techniques to analyze the image, so (within reason) ignores things like nails in plasterboard, etc. Secondly, Cornerfix uses a system of "illuminant compensation", which basically calibrates out variations in illumination across the field. Also, your surface doesn't need to be exactly grey - any light color will do. The only thing to really avoid is having the reference field lit by an single lamp pointed at its center, with noticeable and symmetrical light fall-off towards the corners. That looks just like vignetting to CornerFix, and it will try to compensate for it.
