egrossman Posted September 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 13, 2021 Line of dead pixels. Send the camera into Leica to have the sensor re-mapped.
rsh Posted September 13, 2021 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2021 Yes and Leica replaced the sensor. I purchased the camera in 2017.
pippy Posted September 13, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2021 (edited) As has been suggested it does look like it could have be caused by a dead pixel. Even one 'death' can be sufficient. I'd speak to your Leica dealership and possibly offer to send them the above photo by way of explanation. FWIW I had a similar issue where exactly that situation caused a 'dead-line' although in my case the resulting line was lighter rather than darker. Here's a 100% crop which clearly shows the deceased one; Welcome, dear visitor! It varied in severity of effect from image to image so it was hard to detect at the time - and impossible to see on the camera's screen. Have a really good look at an affected file to see if there is such an issue. If it has then, as egrossman says in post #2, the camera can (probably) be remapped to ignore the culprit. In my case it happpened with an M9-P and IIRC it could have been solved in a simpler way than sending the camera back to Wetzlar. Something like by sending Leica a DNG file and they would, in return, supply a software update code (or suchlike). Good luck! Philip. If they determine that line is indeed a row of dead pixels, they can send you remapping software via an email attachment.

I contacted their support by email, sent them some DNGs taken with the body cap on and no lens mounted. Also the images where I noticed the line. In 5 days or so, they sent me the remap firmware and I have had no issues since.
mikeamosau Posted September 14, 2021 Share #8 Posted September 14, 2021 Try a different memory card first. I had this once and Leica suggested this… was the card. Never happened again after ditching the faulty card.
