mugenmoonz0 Posted September 9, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I live in Glasgow, UK and I need to send my M6 for a repair due to shutter curtain issues. I’m looking for a week turnaround if possible I’ve looked up places like Newton Ellis and cameraworks, but their slow 3 months turnaround is an issue for me. There’s aperture in London with quick turnarounds, but I’ve read mixed reviews about them. Then there’s cameratiks in Edinburgh, they also do Leica repairs with 1 week turnaround . Does anyone here have any experiences with them? Thanks

Sorry that is not a great deal of help I know.
250swb Posted September 9, 2021 Share #3 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) I've just had a Rolleiflex TLR fully serviced top to bottom by Newton Ellis and it took about four weeks before I had it back working perfectly. Of course things may be more complicated if a shutter curtain needs replacing and one week is going to be impossible for any repairer because they then have to shunt another customer out of the queue, I mean, would you like to lose a spot you'd booked because of somebody who is impatient? There is the Leica Store in Manchester (aka Stephens) but they only seem to offer adjustments and not full blown repairs. And there is also Camera Museum in London who will do a new shutter curtain for £300 plus VAT, but again I doubt you'd get it done in one week, and other than Newton Ellis do they do all their own repairs or just take the camera in and then send it out for repair. If time is vital buy another M6 and then sell it again when you don't need it so urgently. Edited September 9, 2021 by 250swb

The issue is I’m seeing uneven exposure on my negatives when using 1/1000 shutter speed. Edited September 9, 2021 by mugenmoonz0
Guest Posted October 13, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2021 They seemed honest enough a few years back. I had them look at an old digital Fujifilm camera that had been dropped. They could’ve charged me to look at it and then try to fix it, but they said it was uneconomical to fix instead.
