erniethemilk Posted September 8, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Had a roll back off my M6 from the developers and they’d made a note of light leaks on some frames. Definitely not on all of them, it is quite random. Someone has suggested that it’s shutter capping, anyone else throw out an opinion as to the issue? Welcome, dear visitor! wizard Posted September 8, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2021 To me that does not appear to be related to the shutter's function. Rather, there seems to be a light leak somewhere. From how it looks it could be the light seal around the shutter curtains. Those do degrade over time (they become too stiff to successfully perform their light sealing function). wizard Posted September 8, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2021 Gerade eben schrieb erniethemilk: If a light leak, would that not affect all images, rather than just random frames? Not necessarily. The light seal might still be good enough to seal lower intensities of light, but when there is more light or a certain angle of incoming light, this may go past the light seal. I assume that you will see the phenomenon only on shots that were taken in very bright light, correct?

Hence my confusion I've dropped a guy who fixes Leica an email to cost up a CLA for me.
