I have used Peak Design straps on my Sony mirrorless cameras for years and would love to use one for my Q2, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the PD anchors through the Q2 lugs. I've seen photos and videos with the PD anchors attached directly to the Q2 lugs, so I know it's possible, but I just can't seem to make it work. Could it be that the new anchors are slimmer and my older anchors just won't fit? Do I just need to try harder? Any tips would be appreciated! (I realize I could use split rings, but I'd rather not have to do that, if possible.)

Thanks!

i tried to use one of my peak straps which i have for nearly all my cameras on the q2, but it just looked and felt wrong. but i've had the problem of too small holes on quite a few models and it was much worse a few years ago when peak used much thicker anchors. if you don't have the new style i'd get some of those as the first try. sometimes i've had success cutting about 1/3rd off a toothpick and using the blunt end to push the anchor through to get it started.

good luck, /guy

I use a small triangular strap ring to attach the PD anchors.  Works great without scuffing camera body.

Thank you! I've tried the floss trick with no luck, I'll see if some new anchors and maybe a toothpick will do the trick.

Gotta squash the peak design lug ends together, then I had to pull the floss with pliers

PD has changed the cord size a few times. I actually have a ton of anchors since they would send a new set each time they found an issue with the prior generation. At one point they had a thinner version that easily could go through the lug holes. They abandoned the thin cord for thicker since the thin was breaking for some folks. They even sent split-rings out with the replacement sets that had the larger cords since they knew some people liked using the lugs directly. I think the most recent generation of the Anchors that I have has slimmed the cord down a bit so that it can be pulled through with floss and patience. These are the one's where they also made the plastic piece thinner. PD just introduced all-black versions Anchors so I don't know if this has also resulted in yet another change in the cord that is being used.

Seems like PD takes a 'one size fits all' approach to the anchors which means that they have to work for the heaviest cameras. I wish they would also offer an Anchor Light since there are plenty of popular smaller cameras.

Same here. Works perfectly.

Instead of floss, try sewing thread to pull the loop through. It is probably stronger than dental floss - it works for me.

I have used the recent metal rings supplied with my latest strap and still have them on one camera, but although there is no sign of them scratching, or even, touching the bodywork, I find that they don't hang straight. The anchor loop tends to catch on the split ring ends and causes it hang at an angle. But it is secure.

I loop through dental floss first, then pull the pd lug attached to that

Thanks for this post! I just got my Q2 and had the Peak Design strap. The dental floss trick worked like a charm. I wrapped the excess floss around a pair of needle nose pliers and used that leverage to pull it right through the lug hole.

Yep, the needle nose pliers are essential, I think I had to do the same

Doesn't need to be pliers.   I used a pencil.   Loop the dental floss around the anchor loop.  Put both ends of the floss through the camera eyelet.  If you grab the floss and pull the floss will dig into your fingers. That can hurt as it takes some effort to pull the anchor loop through the eyelet.  Instead wrap the end of the floss around something -- pliers, pencil, screwdriver, anything.  Cradle the tool in your fingers with the floss running between two fingers.  Now pull.  It's easier on your fingers that way.

I just bought Q2 and a PD strap and had same issue.  I found same small triangle ring from an old Nikon strap.

Glad to know this method  has been verified. 🙂

Not a fan of metal in the lugs.  The dental floss/needle nose pliers technique is the way to go.
And PD is making all black links now too.

I didn't like the PD anchors when they were put through the lugs by themselves.  Didn't seem to give enough flexibility.  With the triangular D-rings and the anchors the strap moves more freely.  The D-rings have plastic protectors on the backs of them and I haven't yet seen any wear on my Q2 or M10-R.
